Brandee’s Review:
I am not sure what kind of story that I expected when I first read the blurb. If you are a fan of romantic suspense, this would be a great pick for you (but you do not have to be a romantic suspense fan to enjoy this YA book – as it has suspense, romance, action, heartbreak and more). As most of you know, I am very careful to not write spoilers in my reviews… But, a few things that I want to tell you that you would usually want to know: there is no cliffhanger (YAY), I have never seen this storyline before, which is often refreshing when reading and this story was NOT predictable for me. Being Zoey’s debut novel, she certainly has a creative way to keep you guessing all the way through the book. Every time I “thought” I knew where the book and storyline may be heading, I was usually off track. However, it is possible that you would be a better investigator that me.As you can assume from the blurb, Maddie is a damaged girl. Of course, the story will give you the details of the what, how and why… but you have to keep on reading to figure it all out… all while getting new pieces thrown in here and there. This story is more than the damaged girl meets the boy who will sweep her off her feet. I loved Jase in this story and that he really wanted to be there for Maddie and even more that he wanted to be “the one” for her. I felt so badly for this poor girl and you will find yourself rooting for Maddie to get her happily ever after, or at the very least to make it through this book breathing…..So, if you are ready for a bit of a suspense-filled book with some light romance and a bunch of action, go grab this debut novel.________________________________________________________________________________
